Celtics Meltdown

The Boston Celtics — arguably the most prestigious and decorated franchise in NBA history — have officially entered meltdown mode.

In a first-round Game 7, without one of their best players, Jayson Tatum, the Celtics put on a performance that was equal parts baffling and self-inflicted. They launched an eye-popping 49 three-pointers. (Call it 50 — it almost feels more accurate.)

This is a franchise that helped build the NBA from its infancy. Now? They’ve turned into a ridiculous imitation of Stephen Curry 2.0 — like “NBA Jam mode” with no off switch.

Down one point with three minutes left… they took seven threes.

Seven.

They made none.

You’re down one. One possession. And that’s the shot selection? What are we doing here?

They finished 13-for-49 from deep.

Three starters scored zero points.

Zero.

So who’s responsible for enabling this style of basketball? The front office? The coaching staff? In the NBA — a league driven by stars, ego, and entitlement — there has to be a moment where an adult in the room steps in and says: Enough.

Head coach Joe Mazzulla is a clown. This isn’t just bad execution — it’s a gross gameplan. Even Steve Kerr doesn’t give Curry this kind of green light, and he’s the greatest shooter of all time!

Then there’s Jaylen Brown, who recently called this his favorite season of his career. Really? Not the championship run? Not the Finals MVP? Huh?

If I’m Boston, I’m building around Tatum and at getting rid of Mr.Favorite-season.

And maybe — just maybe — consider adding a big who can actually score in the paint? Or defend one. Radical concept, I know.

The “heave threes until you die” strategy had its moment. It worked once. But this version? It looks less like basketball and more like an All-Star Game scrimmage — no awarness, no structure, just loafing around the perimeter and firing away.

And this was Game 7.

At home.

After being up 3–1 against Philly.

That’s not just a loss. That’s a meltdown.

Enjoy Cancun ya bums.
